Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
Bloody t3g double posts. Anyway..I'll probably try it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
I have no plans to use ZFS.
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
[Offtopic] Will Trisquel 8 have all the newer packages of GNOME, KDE, XFCE etc. ?
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
Yes it will. Trisquel 8 will inherit most of Ubuntu's packages plus others.
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
This might be irrelevant, but I can't help but notice that the second posts have paragraphs split up the same way an email usually would. Maybe a bug in the software that links the forum and mailing list?
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
I don't really see a reason to use anything other than XFS and ext2+. I've never had a single problem with these two file-systems, and migrating to ZFS seems like more work than it's worth.
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
I see this as the same issue I have with Systemd. I don't have one. Is the technology free? If yes then that is what really matters. ZFS, if it works then great but I have no reason to complain.

Wait a second, they're gone now?

[Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
https://phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item=ZFS-For-Ubuntu-16.04 As we know, Trisquel 8 will be based off of Ubuntu 16.04 and Canonical is going to add support for ZFS due to it not being available in the Linux kernel. Licensing of ZFS has kept it out of the kernel, but its still free software iin its current GPL incompatible state. For those of you that use Trisquel on the server, is this intriguing or will you stick with btrfs/ext4/XFS for now and from here on?
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
I don't know why. I'm using the forums on the website and not the mailing list or any other method.
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
I'm actually curious about this. I know a lot of the BSD people think of it as the next coming of Jesus and GNU/Linux users are in total amazement at how awesome it is. They try with btrfs, but it falls the mighty and powerful ZFS.
Re: [Trisquel-users] ZFS will be available for Trisquel 8. Will you use it?
From reading https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1512034-HA-LINUX44FI45 it seems that XFS will still be a one of the best filesystems out there when Ubuntu 16.04/Trisquel 8 launch with the 4.4 kernel as the default. As usual, btrfs lags behind a lot and no one really knows when it is going to be production ready. I know that Facebook employs someone full time to work on btrfs hoping it will be better. Maybe the current status of btrfs is why so many people want ZFS on GNU/Linux as soon as possible. Without ZFS support, some companies may move to the BSDs in order to get it.
