Re: [Trisquel-users] How to know your BIOS name and version?

Interesting story, I understand better.
Indeed, you're running coreboot version 4.6-2030-g3ce678367c, latest stable
coreboot release is 4.8.1 and we are heading really soon (in a couple of
weeks) to 4.9 release.
Some of his points are valid, Libreboot project is in a "freeze state" for
years, there is barely activity on the project. (Just look at the open
bugs..) Still, the "safer" argument is not a good one. Libreboot uses
deblobbed coreboot code, which is freedom-wise much better.

In some cases though, you might want to use coreboot instead of libreboot.
Some boards received updates and various fixes Libreboot don't have. (as it
uses old 4.5 code)
If your T500 was working fine with Libreboot (even if code is older), there
was no point to use coreboot.
I flashed a customized 4.8.1 on a T500 for a friend and there are only tiny
improvement with boot time for example and some other stuff, but nothing
critical. (security-wise)
From my point of view, if everything is working fine with the current 4.6
rom, no need to update.

The laptop came with libreboot, as I ordered back then. But later the
salesman I bought it from rethought his position about libreboot: coreboot
comes with new updates every six months and he thought of libreboot as a
"dead project", not expecting new updates as the maintainer is busy with
personal occupations, so in his opinion coreboot would be the safer choice.
So he grabbed my laptop on a Linux event and said he would provide a
necessary update for free. He unpacked some hardware and went his way in some
corner while I was having coffee and talked with a fellow Dutch Free Software
enthusiast. Later the laptop salesman went out of business so I'm now on my
own.

With "did everything" I mean that I followed all the steps on that page.
I'm trying to update the coreboot on my Trisquel laptop.

Thank you.

Because of the output of this I wanted to update coreboot and did everything
in the "rookie guide lesson 1" [1], restarted, and there was still the same
output in $sudo dmidecode | less.

They have no regular forum, just a bug tracker.
Does anybody have a clue?
