Is it wrong that I got a little weepy watching this show from my
childhood return? Well, so be it.

Overall, it's a pretty good version. Slick, but not too slick; the
updating is very subtle. Padding it out to an hour doesn't really harm
the game in any major way. They did three spots where they gave DVDs
to everyone in the audience, and I thought that was a little obvious,
but it least it broke up the pace a bit and made it a little less
frantic. Wayne has a very nice rapport with the guests, and is a
fairly quick wit (although it did seem like there was some editing to
show the audience laughing whenever he cracked a joke).

My one complaint about the gameplay is that the Big Deal at the end is
only played with one contestant instead of two. Not only does this
decrease the tension, it decreases the chance that the producers will
have to spring for a big prize (which is what happened today - the
couple playing picked the second most expensive deal).

BTW, I find it interesting that Wayne is introduced with Monty's old
tagline, "TV's big dealer." When TPIR started its new season a couple
weeks ago, they abandoned their longtime introduction of the emcee
(changing it from "And now, here's the STAR of The Price Is Right..."
to "And now, here's your host"). TPIR's new introduction doesn't feel
right somehow, but LMAD's introduction makes the show feel like home
right away.
