[TV orNotTV] Another death close to me
No, not a person... more apropos to our group. The colour in my bedroom TV expired early this morning (30). It's not a huge headache, as dad and I have worked out the terms for the main set downstairs going forward, and of course the latter has far more channels with the box than the former without. Still, it's bothersome not being able to discern, f'rinstance, whether the weather radar is showing rain, snow, or mixed precip. And, until the company kills analogue channels (this year, I still contend) I'm still able to program the VCR, albeit only with NCIS:Harmon for now. And meanwhile, the big set is older (1984, at least) than the bedroom one (1988 or thereabouts... dad got it to put in a camping trailer he used to have, which came with a built-in antenna). Since these are usually done in January, I was wondering if anyone here had an idea about why this test is being done in April. I think I have to withdraw my assumption that it had been in the works for a while. A Facebook friend who was in the studio for a taping more recently says that she was told that the test is late because of the hacking of parent company Sony Pictures. It does seem reasonable timing for the December hack to impact the usual January test date. The official word is that you are in the pool for 18 months from your audition date. Since my last audition was in late May of 2014, I would be in the pool through November of this year. It sounds like David L.'s mom is in a similar situation. I don't know how delays in a test date will affect audition dates. The three times I've auditioned in Washington, D.C., the dates were in May and August. The test was in January each time, but I think it plausible that the Jeopardy! crew could be ready for May auditions even with an April test.
