Murray being an asshole. I would not call this sexual assault, but in
current context I can see it being terrifying for a young woman, and a dude
if any age has to know it’s not okay.

Eriq Gardner reports in Puck News:

“On the set, Murray was particularly friendly with one female production
staffer. (I’m withholding her name, although it’s not actress KekePalmer,
as has been speculated.) This much younger woman, Murray felt, had been
flirting with him. So at one moment when the two were in close proximity
near a bed that was part of the production, Murray started kissing her body
and straddling her. It was perhaps an unclear bit of physical comedy, but
one that was unannounced. She couldn’t move because he outweighed her, she
alleged. Then, he kissed her on the mouth, although when he did so, both
Murray and the woman were wearing masks, owing to Covid protocols. Murray
later said that he was just being jestful, but the woman interpreted his
actions as entirely sexual. She was horrified.

The woman made a complaint about what had occurred. A second staffer also
witnessed the incident and lodged a report, too. This traveled up the chain
at Disney, I’m told. Eventually, Searchlight, in an unsigned memo, informed
the cast and crew that production was being suspended, although the reason
and the nature of what had happened was withheld….

After some time, Murray and the woman came to a settlement: The actor paid
her just north of $100,000, according to sources, and she agreed to
maintain confidentiality. Notably, the deal included another component
besides a non-disclosure agreement: The woman agreed to waive any legal
claims she might make against the producers of *Being Mortal*, including
Searchlight and Disney.”

Gardner reports that even though Murray and Ansari hoped that would be
enough to get the film back on track, Searchlight (now owned by Disney) was
not in the mood to take a chance, and has refused. Apparently there is some
small chance they can sell it to someone else and complete production.

I feel the same way when the right wing takes to Twitter to say they are
being censored when they have in some cases millions of followers. What
people want goes beyond the freedom to speak; they are demanding that the
rest of us validate their speech.

 That said, GB News is almost certainly still hemorrhaging cash, a bit
 like their rival TalkTV (home of Piers Morgan in the UK). UK broadcasting
 rules mean they can't just set-up shop as a UK version of Fox News or
 similar. They do tread a fine line though.

As I recall, they didn't really say anything either way about it.  Looking back 
at my notes, the only real guidance they gave us in my taping session in terms 
of responses (aside from the technicalities like dropping definite articles) 
was to be economical with words; don't say "Alex, I'd like to take 'Academy 
Award Winning Actresses of the 1980s' for two thousand, please" when "Actresses 
for two" works just as well but saves time. And saved time means more game 
play.  

The producers may or may not like it, but based on the generic promo they put 
out for my week of shows, their editors sure do; I think every goofy little 
thing I did made it into that :30 promo.

The producers are also stretching three rounds of gameplay over what would 
traditionally be four. They’ve added a second interview session and related 
wraparound clues. If Ike Barinholtz wants to digress over whether Mommy or 
Daddy is his favorite host, I’m sure der Kommissar won’t mind.

Yeah, the questions are dumbed down, but I haven't had the impression that
any of the celebrity contestants we've seen so far couldn't handle them.

I'll leave it to those of you who've been there to tell me how much
producers discourage regular contestants from making comments, but the show
seems fine with celebrities doing so. Maybe they're pandering to Constance
Wu fans rather than Jeopardy! fans.

And, of course, past celebrity games have been one-and-done affairs. The
tournament format probably puts additional pressure on the participants.
