Just think, if cable and dish providers had allowed a la carte channel
selections, they might still be power players in media instead of the
afterthoughts they are now, and there’d be no need for 50 different
streaming services.

The satellite service that seems to always have negotiation problems with 
station groups over carriage fees says that it will knock $12 a month off 
the bill if the customer decides that they don't need their local stations, 
which should cover the cost of a digital antenna on top of the TV, but 
considering that the main draw these days for cable and satellite is easy 
access to local stations and the sports channels for live sports...
