I am in the process of implementing a Tweet Box into some of our web pages using @Anywhere and while we have gotten everything to work perfectly there is one annoying problem we can't seem to fix and I'm wondering if any of you have come up with a solution.
When we choose to connect with Twitter a child window opens and asks to authenticate as expected.. But when you click Accept it redirects to the url the user was on but inside the child window instead of the parent window when the user originated. Basically it creates 2 copies of the same website and the one inside the child window then either has to be closed, followed by a refresh of the parent window or the child window has to be resized to full screen and the parent window closed. It seems like this is something Twitter needs to fix on their end because even though you can customize the callback url within your application, it still redirects to whatever page the user originated from. Since it automatically detects the callback url there is no way to customize a specific url where you can add auto close and refresh javascript for the child & parent windows. The functionality works great and we'll probably end up launching as is, but it seems like users will quickly become annoyed with having to close the pop-up child window and refresh the parent in order to show they are now connected. Hopefully Twitter will be able to launch a seamless fix for this.. I know it can be done because we integrated the new Facebook "Like" buttons as well and that child window automatically closes after authentication. If you have any tips or tricks or perhaps know of a mistake I am making please let us know.. -- Subscription settings: http://groups.google.com/group/twitter-development-talk/subscribe?hl=en
