I've never tested it but I would guess the API will always return a
truncated 140 character responses unless.
The other issue sounds like either a bug with how the API saves 140http://twitter.com/help but you will have
to wait for Alex to confirm it is not an API issue.

I have enter both of the twitter request forms for whitelisting and
twitter source. I think the whitelisitng was approved but how can I
tell progammatically if this is the case. Secondly I realise twitter

It still wasn't working when I first tried this morning, but at one
point i refreshed the m.twitter.com page on my phone and it returned
the page in HTML code. After that, the API limit was reset. I don't
know if that's related
