Occasionally over the last month, the search.json API is returning an avatar image that doesn't exist: http://static.twitter.com/images/default_profile_normal.png I'm guessing it's been deleted from Twitters servers, the error is "The requested URL /images/default_profile_normal.png was not found on this server."
You can see this invalid URL in the search results near the top.
