Is POP3 before SMTP (authentication) still in use? I would like to discontinue this feature in some of my applications. That sort of authentication was only needed for old mail applications that did not allow SMTP login details to be specified. Authentication was only added to my current email application Ameol2 about five years ago, but it was 10 years old even then (although had moved from 16-bit to 32-bits. I can not imagine an SMTP server that only supports POP3 authentication without accepting SMTP authentication as well. Such a server would be so old it would be a prime target for hacking. And I spend more and more time sending support emails explaining why it doesn't work, with modern mail servers. However if somebody is aware of a public mail server still supporting POP3 authentication only I'll keep it for the next decade :) -- Arno Garrels -- To unsubscribe or change your settings for TWSocket mailing list please goto http://lists.elists.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/twsocket Visit our website at http://www.overbyte.be
