Many thanks, I hope you can get onto the Linux beta.

Hi Angus,

I'm running Linux Mint on all my machines for some years. I did not
upgraded Delphi because I do not much programming latest years (I run
D5, D7 and XE on separate VM's). So I'm not interested to buy a new
Delphi version. However I be glad to help if I can do some test on Linux
machines.

Best regards, Wilfried

The Linux version will use the LLVM compiler already used for iOS which
ICS supports, so in theory it should not be a major effort to add Linux
support for ICS, easier than Android. There are changes, like 1 based
strings instead of 0 for mobile.

Unfortunately, all the ICS iOS development was done by Arno who has not
been able to contribute for a few years, neither I nor Francois have
real Linux experience, and I'm really too old to learn new operating
systems or compilers...

So if ICS is to support Linux, we need some assistance from one or more
people, who probably want to implement Delphi server applications on
Linux. This work can start immediately with a beta of the next Delphi
release.

Any interest in Linux?

Angus

Wonderful, you need to email radb...@embarcadero.com, explain your
interest in Linux for Delphi and how you can help test the beta and
assist with implementing ICS for Linux.

Once you are accepted on the beta, you will have access to private
newsgroups where you can announce yourself so we know have signed
various NDA agreements and can talk further privately.

2017-02-28 Thread Jasja Glasbeek

Good afternoon,

I'm interested in the Linux version of the upcoming Delphi
And if possible I'm thinking about a linux version of the server side of
my system which is build upon ICS.

So if not too much trouble, I'm very interested.

Regards,
Jasja

I hope to find some time to resurrect ICS for Kylix I wrote so long ago. At
that time it was an implementation of TWSocket for Linux. It should still
works but of course lacks all the features added since then.
