Annual TYJP Picnic:

 

Date:  Sunday, June 9, 2002

Time:  12:00 PM (noon)

Where:  IBM Rec Center

Cost:  $5.00 for non-members/$2.00 for members

 

Join us for our annual summer picnic.  Come play volleyball, tennis, basketball, and even softball (if enough people are willing and able).  Or just lounge around and schmooze in this well-kept recreation center.  And best of all, enjoy some delectable burgers, scrumptious hot dogs, appetizing chips, and mouth-watering beverages, all to be provided by TYJP.  If you care to bring something special, such as a favorite desert, please feel free.

 

Since we need to plan for the number of attendees, RSVP's are required by Thursday, June 6; if you are a vegetarian or have special dietary requirements, please let us know; we will do our best to accommodate everyone (within reason).

Directions:

 

From Durham/Chapel Hill:

  Take I-40 East to Davis Drive (Exit 280).

  Loop around, and then turn right onto Davis (head north).

  Pass through two (2) traffic lights:

    I-40 Westbound

    Cornwallis Road

  Immediately after passing Cornwallis, turn right into the IBM Rec Center (if you get to the guard shack, you have gone too far).

  Continue on the road until you get to the tennis courts; the picnic area is across the street from the tennis courts.

 

From Raleigh:

  Take I-40 West to Davis Drive (Exit 280).

  Turn right onto Davis (head north).

  Pass through one (1) traffic light:

    Cornwallis Road

  Immediately after passing Cornwallis, turn right into the IBM Rec Center (if you get to the guard shack, you have gone too far).

  Continue on the road until you get to the tennis courts; the picnic area is across the street from the tennis courts.

Durham Bulls Outing:

 

Date:  June 29, 2002

Time:  Meet 6:15 - 6:30 / Game starts at 7:00 PM

Location:  Durham Bulls Athletic Park.  Parking is available all around the park.

 

Saturday June 29 will be our annual baseball night out at the Durham Bulls game. Join TJYP for a summer classic tradition. Tickets for the game are only $5.50. Game time is at 7pm. Full-size bats will be handed out to the first 1000 people in attendance.  We are holding 25 tickets in advance for this game, so please get your RSVP by June 15 to ensure a reserved ticket; any tickets not claimed by June 15, will be turned back into the box office.

**Due to a scheduling problem, the annual Pool Party prior to the fireworks at Regency Park has been cancelled.  If anyone else can host a pool party, please contact Michael Cohen ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).

***We need five or six volunteers to help raise money for TYJP.  We will be helping the Durham Bulls give away various items to the Fans prior to the game.  The first five or six people who contact Michael Cohen ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) will be given more details, as well as be eligible for complimentary tickets to the game.  If interested, please provide your name, Email address, and phone numbers (day and evening).

 

Also, if you have any ideas or suggestions for activities or events for the time frame of August 16 through December 31, please contact Michael Cohen ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), or just come to the July 31 Planning Meeting.  We need volunteers and ideas if we are going to keep TYJP active and alive.
