Fourth of July Picnic/Fireworks Spectacular:
When:  Tuesday, July 4, 2006
Time:  2:30 PM Meet/7:30 PM Symphony, then Fireworks
Where:
Meet at Michael C's House, Then carpool to Regency Park

Join the Triangle Young Jewish Professionals (TYJP) for the July 4th celebration at Regency Park.  Enjoy an evening around friends and fellow citizens rejoicing in our Nation's independence and freedom. Cap off the evening with a spectacular display of fireworks, arguably the best in the area.

Bring whatever you would like to eat and drink in your picnic basket.  A blanket, some chairs, bug spray, and something enjoyable to help pass the time (cards, backgammon, etc.) will help too.  If you are bringing any food or drinks to share, please note that TYJP will not be providing paper products.

So that we can sit as a group, we will meet at Michael C's house in Cary (about 5-10 minutes from the Park). We will then carpool to minimize parking difficulties.  We plan to meet at 2:30 PM and leave sharply at 2:50 PM.  In case of rain, we will stay at Mike's until it stops, or we decide to just stay and watch fireworks on his big screen TV.  Please RSVP to get directions to Mike's house, and to let us know how many people to expect.

If you're late or you just choose to meet us at Regency Park, you can attempt to call Mike at 302-1467 once you have parked and arrived at the park, to find out where we are.  At this time, we are planning to meet in the Amphitheatre at Regency Park lawn area.  Please note, there will be very limited seating for those arriving late.

To RSVP, or if you have any questions, please contact Mike at [EMAIL PROTECTED] (prior to July 4), or at the above cell number after 3:30 PM on July 4.  More information about the Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park can be found at their website.

7th Annual Upper Gauley White Water Rafting Trip:
When:  Friday, September 15 - Sunday, September 17, 2006
Time:  Leave Triangle Friday Afternoon/Evening - Raft Saturday AM - Return to Triangle Sunday
Where:

Upper Gauley River, Hico, WV (Phone: 800-822-1FUN)

Join TYJP and other outdoor enthusiasts on the Upper Gauley River, arguably some of the best white water rafting on the East Coast, for the weekend of September 15-17.  You do not need to be an expert paddler (although it is highly recommended that you have some paddling experience) to enjoy the Upper Gauley River.  However, the Upper Gauley River contains several "Class V+" rapids, so you should not be afraid of getting wet.  For those that are adventurous, there is a cliff that many people jump from.

For more information about the Upper Gauley River and Adventures Mountain River, the outfitter we have been using for the past several years, please visit AMR's web site:
    http://www.rafttoday.com

You must RSVP with
Adventures Mountain River quickly, as the available spaces are filling up fast.  Do not wait until the last minute.  See below for details.  Depending on weather conditions, you may also want to think about renting a wet suit (or bring your own).

Basic Itinerary:
We will be camping at Ray's Campgrounds
, which is just down the road from AMR, Friday night, September 15; there are cabins which sleep several (4+) for those that do not have tents.  However, there are also hotels in the area (approximately 30-45 minutes away) for those who don't want to rough it.  The campsite is nicely equipped, with modern restrooms and showers.  We are tentatively scheduled for the 8:30AM rafting trip on Saturday, September 16; however, depending on demand, we may be bumped to a later or earlier time instead.  Both breakfast and lunch will be supplied by AMR.  Based upon weather and other factors, we will decide whether we will continue to camp Saturday night, or head to a hotel instead; we will grab something to eat Saturday night at one of the local establishments.  We will then head home on Sunday morning, September 17.

To RSVP:
Please contact
Adventures Mountain River directly, at 1-800-822-1FUN (1386).  To ensure your reservation is entered correctly for our group, use our reservation number, 39170; the trip is under the name of "Michael Cohen".  Please be prepared to supply your credit card number for a charge of $148.49 (including taxes and fees)

Michael C. has made reservations at Ray's Campgrounds; however, you will be responsible for paying $7.42 per person per night when we get to the campgrounds.  For those needing a cabin, the rate is $30 - $35 per cabin per night PLUS $7.00 per person per night (not including the 6% tax).  PLEASE RSVP ASAP as Michael needs to let them know if we need a cabin or not.  Also note, since these cabins sleep multiple people, there may be some co-ed arrangements made.

Carpooling:
Once you have made your reservation with
Adventures Mountain River, please send a note to Michael Cohen ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) including the following information:
* Are you interested in carpooling up to West Virginia
* Are you willing to drive (if Yes, do you mind others driving your car and is your car's transmission automatic or manual?)
* Are you able to drive a car with manual transmission
* What time can you leave on Friday afternoon/evening
* What part of the Triangle are you leaving from (Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, etc.)
* When do you need to be back on Sunday
* What are your phone numbers for contact (home, work, cell, etc.)

More information will follow to those that RSVP.

If you have any other questions, please contact Michael Cohen ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).
