I usually put a listing of important FOSS in the acknowledgements.
With citation if possible, without otherwise.  But NumPy, SciPy,
matplotlib, xarray etc. often have "publications" in the form of
presentations at conferences such as the SciPy conference, or even
proper papers.  So perhaps the solution is to present typhon at a
suitable conference ;-)
