As a different approach, you can create a menu with TS only. Here is my
usual setup for this:
lib.lang_menu = HMENU
lib.lang_menu {
special = language
special.value = 0,1
special.normalWhenNoLanguage = 0
1 = TMENU
1 {
NO = 1
NO.linkWrap = span|/span
NO.ATagBeforeWrap = 1

did you install the extension sr_language_menu and had a look what the
output of your lib.languageMenu made? Usually this works out of the box,
you also can have a look at the manual of the extension, there are
different ways for getting the language menu working.

nice weather outside these days. But not here at my Typo3 project.
For one week now I try to setup a FE language menu. But it doesnt work. So
I guess it could be a bug or there are some other things I dont know.
