Bill, There is the Unix Kernel, which is configured via the Kernel Parameters. In UniVerse, there is the Run Engine. You modify uvconfig to change the parameter setting (like the width and depth of the lock table). Then you use uvregen to generate the Run Engine object code. The Run Engine

Although PICK was an operating system at one time, and therefore had a kernel, the U2 products dropped the kernel so they could operate on any operating system with adjustments. There is a engine that manages the applications built in the environment but it is not usually called the kernel.
