We have had this problem here with users having multiple open sessions.
We are on HP-Ux with UniVerse.

No. There are no complicated users or processes. They're all straight UV

turn, invokes uv?
I don't think it increments the user count, but I'm not sure. I do know it
stomps all over the parent uv's printer segment, so it's generally not a
good idea.
