I'm guessing March 6. Just a hunch.

I think that the list server should/could detect these and terminate.
Otherwise, they could spin out of countrol.

Subject: [U2] Java Script

A client of mine has a folder filled with PDF's. I want to cause the
printing
(choice and copies) from my MV application.

Prior, I could set up a DOS command line with the /P print switches but
Adobe
now doesn't support switches. They suggested that I get at acrobat reader
5.0
using a java script.

I want the user to be able to choose a reference from the MV app, create a
batch file or script on their C: drive and print blindly (or at least
without
human intervention) the PDF. I probably can control the copy count from my
end
with multiple identical lines.

The emulator is Wintegrate but could be Accuterm.

Thanks in advance

You'd think something so simple would be part of any list server.

Maybe we need to write an mvListserver...

RE: [U2] Steve Cashman

2006-02-25 Thread Glen B
It's not as simple as you might think. There have been long heated
discussions about how to deal with vacation auto-responders on lists -
including Majordomo. In the end, there's 2 options:

1) A subject filter that drops all messages with out of the office and
away on vacation somewhere in the subject. That will also kill real
postings with the strings in them. Also, various away responders may have
different subject styles so the rules you implement may only work 50% of the
time. As the list grows, the chances of a variety of vacation clutter grows.

2) The second option, which is typical for people who openly use mailing
lists, is to set up your auto-responder to not send 'away' replies to e-mail
addresses that are mailing lists. That can be done with partial address
matching or by specifying the e-mail addresses manually. It only takes one
step, by you or your mail admin, and it's dealt with for good.

It would be great if people in very active lists, like U2-users, took the
time to exclude their list subscriptions from their auto-responders.

[U2] Update to Outlook Subject Cleanup Macros

2006-02-25 Thread Tony Gravagno
In response to recent subject mangling I've made a number of enhancements
to my freeware which cleans up Subject lines in Outlook. A lot of changes
have also been made to accommodate issues specific to this U2 forum. My
tastes in how I choose to correct such issues may not match yours, please
check the code. That said, I use this all the time and it makes all my
mail very easy to read and sort.

http://removehisNebula-RnD.com/freeware/
Specific doc to check out is outlook_mail_subject_macro2.txt. Extensive
HowTo info is included for those who don't know about such things.

You will need to completely replace the old code and replace your toolbar
button if you already have this installed.

I'll be happy to answer any questions via e-mail and we can repost here if
the info is of interest to a broader audience.

[U2] RE:Merging Unique

2006-02-25 Thread Coelho, Gregory
Hey,

I want 1st say thanks for all the help in the past - it is certainly a
factor in why I still have a job! Can anyone let me know how I can
merge using Union and be guaranteed that I have not pulled in any
duplicate elements? I know I can SAVING UNIQUE when constructing a
SAVE.LIST to ensure no duplicate ID's. Can I do something similar when
merging?

Thanks,

[U2]: How to eliminate Lotus Notes Out of Office e-mails

2006-02-25 Thread Stephen O'Neal
IBM Lotus Notes users can eliminate the ?Out of Office? auto response
problem at U2UG by doing these steps:

When in the ?Mail? view:
Click on ?Tools?
Click on ?Out of Office?
Click the tab called ?Exceptions?

In the field called ?Do not automatically reply to mail from these people
or groups:?, enter these two e-mail addresses:
u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

In the field called ?Do not automatically reply to mail addressed to these
groups:?, enter these two e-mail addresses:
u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

In the field called ?Do not automatically reply if the subject contains
these phrases.?, enter these phrases (each on a new line):
[U2]
[UD]
[UDT]
[UV]
[U2C]
[AD]

Questions? Contact me off line to resolve.

Yes, these steps work. I have used them for 3 years without issue. Please
note that more than one method has been used to catch your inadvertent
out of office spam.

(Humor here?) As Tim Snyder, one of the U2 Lab Services consultants puts
it, ?It?s like the having a belt on, with suspenders on, with someone
behind you holding up your pants? kind of coverage to make sure you don?t
get an ?out of office? e-mail spamed to U2UG.

Larry Hiscock: nice catch!!! We appreciate your work for the U2
community!!!

Steve Cashman. We're all human. Sometimes our mistakes are done in
public. You're forgiven.

Thanks,
   Steve
