I too am interested in this comparison.

The majority of my clients are D3 yet I have 1 or 2 UV and UD clients, hence
the straddling.

I know that U2 products have many more technical features but I would like
to see where it gets admin heavy versus D3.

Thanks

RE: [U2] should i do this..>

2008-01-31 Thread Bessel, Karen
I don't think it makes a difference, but I'd prefer the first method
since you're putting the entire pathname - it will work correctly no
matter what directory you're in. With the relative pathname method (.),
your command won't work unless you're in the correct directory at the
time you execute it.

2008-01-31 Thread Manu Fernandes
Re,

-F options of uvrestore require :

Uvrestore -F c:\CHRIS=C:\ROGER
A old release works with Uvrestore -F c:/CHRIS=C:/ROGER

-F is also a filter to restore one file from uvbackup tape give the full
path+filename

2008-01-31 Thread LuckY07
Manu,

I appreciate the quick response. I was wondering how I can check this? I did
this:

CHRIS> LIST UV.ACCESS

and get:

UVBACKUP uvadminREAD
root WRITE
NTAUTHORITY\system

I want to add user 'CHRIS' to be user autheroized to do a UVRESTORE, any
ideas? tks.

I spent the better part of two days and encountered some of the same
problems that you did. Eventually, I tried the XMLDB Tool and within a few
minutes I had created the necessary map file and was importing/exporting
data from within a Unibasic program.

I don't remember where I found the XML.H and XMLTOOL.H files, but if you
would like, I can email them to you. They might be the same ones that you
found, but it won't hurt to check.

RE: [U2] [uvrestore] - help with a couple errors..

2008-01-31 Thread Manu Fernandes
Hi,

1) You can/must use the uvrestore option -F origpath=destpath if the
destination path is different from original.
2) You must be defined as uvbackup/uvrestore userid authorized into UV
UV.ACCESS UVBACKUP 001 domain\userid

My two pence.
