Subject: [U2] [UV] Requirements for UO.NET connection?

We have a client trying to connect to UV10.2/Win32 via UniObjects.NET.
The connection works with some accounts and not with others. The error
reported is 39125, The directory does not exist or is not a database
account. This is absolutely not correct. The user/password is correct
in that it works with some accounts. And using telnet all accounts are
accessible via the same user/password.

I've been increasingly convinced that the issue is permissions but it's
looking like this may not be the case. The UniRPC service is running as
System and we've ensured (for better or
worse) that the path to the account directories and all subdirectories
have full access for System. (This is a test system so it doesn't
matter here but I'll be happy to take comments on whether that's a
secure solution.)

It seems that accounts that have been updated with Update.Account may
not be working while those that have not been updated are working.

Does any of this ring any bells?

Thank you kindly for any insight.

RE: [U2] Errors with RPC

2009-01-13 Thread Symeon Breen
Hi

There are a number of reasons you may be getting this

Licences is one -are there any licences left on the u2 host
I have seen this error on busy systems where the nic is using half duplex,
check your nic and your switch port to ensure full duplex is in use.
When you start ud is it starting unirpcd as well - check it is running
Are you using pools - are they licenced and are there any left.
Your trhreads on the java end are not dying for any reason, i.e you are
reseting the app server or something ?
How long does it take to happen - i.e. is it a while so thereis a timeout
issue

At what point does this happen is it in the initial connect or on subsequent
access to the api - i.e. is there a databasic or TCL call that is crashing
the back end process - if you are using some of the extended u2 functions
like the xml api or http api you may need to set your LANG variables
differently.

RE: [U2] Errors with RPC

2009-01-13 Thread Martel, Henry
unirpcd is definitely running.

After 485,000 calls, we've had our first service error.
This was framed by a handful of those same ping errors we've been seeing.

1/8/2009 06:58:03:859
Error: [IBM U2][UniObjects for Java][UniSession Exception][ErrorCode:
81002]No RPC Connection active.
Tag: getinventoryline
Payload: nSKUS=1~SKU=101NVXL~QTY=4~WAREHOUSECODE=NV~EXCLUSIVEWAREHOUSE=0

The timeout is within 3 sec.

We are not using pools to perform the counts.

I will be checking the licenses and the network card. Is there a diff between
UV Licenses and licenses for rpc?

2009-01-13 Thread Tony G
Thanks for the response, Les. (BTW, you may want to fix your
sig, it dumps a lot of HTML into the text body of emails...)

The accounts that are not working do have a VOCLIB, though I'm
unsure why that would make a difference - should VOCLIB contain
special paragraphs or other data required by UO?

One of the accounts that is working had a misconfigured VOCLIB
pointer. This worked without VOCLIB and after the pointer was
corrected.

For Marc - I believe updatevoc is the Unidata equivalent of the
Universe update.account, which has already been tried. Thanks.

A call has been put into IBM by the client and I trust the issue
will be resolved. I put the inquiry out here because frequently
the community wisdom has a way of solving problems expeditiously.
