Hi Charles:
[ad]
We have an JavaScript API that allows you to call your own routines or you
can call ours:

1) CallSubroutine-- call any subroutine you have created (no inputs
statements allowed)
2) ReadData -- reads record based on an object
3) ReadExists -- does a READV on position zero
4) ReadField -- validity check and returns data from that position
5) ReadRecord -- reads record and returns a JSON string
6) WriteData -- write a record based on an object
7) WriteField -- writes a single position back to database
8) WriteRecord -- writes a full record back to database
9) LoadDropDowns -- builds a JSON string for a list (you can use
autocomplete)
10) Query -- builds a JSON string for a lookups that supports auto
complete on every column
11) DeleteData -- delete data based on an object
12) Sleep -- Unusual option to slow up the web while we do something
that takes a while

We have built in a full replication engine that allows you to update sites
at the record level. We have a local copy and delete engine that allows you
to copy from your Universe or Unidata to the Apache Tomcat location
seamlessly.

We have reduced prices on our XLr8Developer to $99.00. Our Java middleware
called U2WebLink(tm) is priced at $750.00 per concurrent user. We have
found that you can get 5 to 10 users per user so you user cost can be around
75.00.

Our customers are running hundreds to millions of transactions with not even
a bump in the road. Our customers have been running our own middleware and
backend for over 6 years.

We are constantly improving it through the use of Eclipse plug-ins, customer
input and a lot of open source. Recently, we added durability to our
UniObjects connection via a open source product called Quartz. We now have
very stable connection that Quartz checks on to make sure we are hooked up
to our U2 database.

Genius for Dummies. You're killing me.

You know what would be nice. A UniBasic back-end with a corresponding
JavaScript Toolkit, or library for the client-side that would create a
dynamic, seamless, powerful, yet simple to use environment for displaying
tables, lookups, autocomplete lists, forms, and calling validation
routines, and update routines with minimal setup and minimal coding. At
an affordable price. U2 back-ends are a really good fit for web apps, but
right now it is either too complex or expensive.
