RE: [U2] wintegrate query builder question

2005-02-21 Thread David Robertshaw
Kevin, there are no issues in the versions you are using.

1. Has the import to Excel ever worked? If not you could try reinstalling the
host programs and ensure the machine type matches your host. (UniVerse Ideal
Flavor, Universe Pick Flavor, etc.)

2. Viewing in the Report Viewer also does an import. It creates a file locally
and loads it into the grid. If that has a timeout then it could be the same
root problem.

3. As someone else said, try different combinations of dict items. Does only
one fail? Do any of them work?

4. Test the installation with a different file. On UniVerse you could try VOC
with the supplied dict items F1 and F2.

Subject: [U2] wintegrate query builder question

I'm an end user and I've developed some queries using Query builder. I
been able to get the queries to the screen but I now I want them to be
placed into an Excel spread sheet. When I select my output to go to the
pc/process and select the program to be excel and I fire my query. I
get a error window QueryImport to PC failed Invalid Fields. Any clues
to why this is happening? Can anyone give me places an end user can
check. I'd like to speak with some confidence before I bring it up with
my overly strapped IT department. Any help would be appreciated.

Try sending it to the Report Viewer first then export it from there. I

RE: [U2] wIntegrate query builder question

2005-02-18 Thread Paul Trebbien
Hi Kevin,
I believe you are running into invalid dict items or dict items that
don't work in your query. It appears you were able to run the report to the
screen without a problem, is that true? In Query Builder, try changing the
output destination to Screen and see if it works.
I wondering if you added a dict items to the 'Items', 'Sort', and/or
'Output' fields on your Query Builder screen that may not be valid.

What happens to me:
* For output to PC (excel), if I have a bad/non-existent dict item I get
that QueryImport to PC failed Invalid Fields message
* If I change the Query to go to the screen then I get a different message
for a non-existent dict item: At #1 [SORT PARTS ABC XYZ] - Keyword 'XYZ'
not recognized

You can do the 'old' trial and error testing of your Query and
eliminate 1 dict item at a time until you get it working...

Have a Great Day!

RE: [U2] wIntegrate query builder question

2005-02-18 Thread Paul Trebbien
Could be that when you view the report the access statement is throwing away
(not using) the bad dict item but sending your output to Report Viewer or PC
cannot do so. Note, when using an invalid dict item and sending the output
to Report View I also get the same error message that outputting to excel
gave me.

* What release of wIntegrate do you have? I'm using 4.2.1. I also have
earlier releases of wIntegrate but the 4.2.1 utility programs are probably
loaded on my system - I'm sure they are. Check the help-about to see what
release you have.

I would suggest Viewing it, examine the data to see what column you are
missing from the Output dict items you have in the Query Builder to find the
bad dict item.

If that doesn't work, I guess I'm back to the eliminating dict items one at
a time until you get the report to output to Excel. Try outputting to
Excel97, later releases won't work as my old friend Kathleen Bodine
mentioned (Hi Kathleen).

Kevin,
What version of wIntegrate are you using?
I've noticed on version 5.2 if you specify in the before box GET-LIST
without an actual get-list name (assuming that it will pick up your most
current TEMPXXX list) it will fail with the same error.
