You should be running vlans across your switch for your OSPF interfaces. Keep
it isolated that way, protected ports is more designed to block interface to
interface end host traffic.

Case is you are powering an AF5X upstream on port 4 and you have a router
on port 16 with OSPF and you want to isolate traffic from all other ports
to prevent OSPF loops and issues.
I read using protected ports is prefered over
