It just hasn't been a problem for us. Maybe symmetrical distribution of
wind load or some other factor. Of course, all of our poles will twist
by 20 degrees now that I said this.

No sway, but we got a big bubba. Ditto on the twisting. As a matter of
fact my realignment is due this weekend.

80 ft pole 10 ft into the ground.

The issue is that over time the poles tend to twist slightly during the
course of the year.

We find that if we have a 2ft dish / 10 mile link we may have to go out
and adjust the link twice a year. Swaying has not been an issue but our
poles are not really high (40ft).

Re: [Ubnt_users] MTU Size Changes Itself on Rocket M2

2016-08-19 Thread Scott Lambert
What's your PPPoE server? Yesterday afternoon I got a call from a tech at a
customer location. Yahoo main page loaded. The yahoo mail login page did not.
The customer's linksys router had lost the internet port a few years ago, so
every device was using the ubnt radio in router mode with pppoe, 1492 MTU.

I lowered the MTU on the tech's laptop and everything worked. A bit later I
noticed that the dynamic PPP MTU fixup rules on the MikroTik PPPoE server were
at the bottom of the list and not being reached. Moving those rules to
position 0 solved the customer's issues.

I suspect most consumer routers are better at dealing with PathMTU discovery
blackholes than Windows TCP/IP stack. That *may* be why we only had one
customer complaint. I'm not sure why AirOS didn't handle it, if that's the
case.

I'm not sure how the rules ended up out of order after months of correct
operation. I suspect it happened when I updated the mangle packet marking
rules via a script. But it could be a RouterOS 6.26 bug. I've not dived into
deeply enough to prove any theory. I probably won't bother if it doesn't
happen again. I have scheduled it to upgrade to 6.34.6 tonight.

[Ubnt_users] AC2 Documentation

2016-08-19 Thread Sam Morris
Anyone know where to find documentation for AC2? Specifically, I'm
trying to create some alerts (i.e., alert me if MTU size changes on an
AP, although I'm not holding out much hope for that without some
creating curl, wget, or ssh scripting). I see references to "AC2's
expression editor" in a blog post, however can find neither the
expression editor nor formal documentation. I may not be looking in the
right place but I've exhausted everyplace I can think of took look.

I'd also like to make some other rules to let me know if an AP reboots
for instance. I figured out how to make the rule, but applying it to
specific radios in the topology doesn't seem intuitive (at least not to
me). I did ask this question on the ubnt community site as well but
thought I'd ask here too as this is much easier to follow. :)

Thanks
Sam
