Please edit the entry in grub menu, and change root=/dev/sda1 to root=/dev/hda1. After boot, edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and remove the line with kopt_2_6. Then run sudo update-grub. This is actually a bug in the installer. The kopt_2_6 line should be using root=UUID= like the kopt line does.
