I've also noticed that in the latest Edgy (beta release, plus updates),
the brightness slider in gnome-power-manager doesn't work properly. You
have to slide it back and forth a few times before it will allow you
step between the different brightness settings.

I found the reason.
Fonts (not managed by fontconfig, but only by Xserver) are installed
under /usr/share/fonts/X11/ (as well as encondings). The
/ect/X11/xorg.conf file instead uses as FontPath the path
/usr/share/X11/fonts/. In this path there are the usual 100dpi/ 75dpi/
misc/ and Type1/
The mount fails, but how to debug this.
In 5.10 it mount the cdrom as /dev/cdroms/cdrom0

Have just noticed that setting acpi=off in the kernel boot options seems
to make X work. It did not, however, work on the system I'd upgraded
from Dapper to Edgy. This could be because of some pre-Edgy cruft or it
may be that an update to a package in the 3-4 days since I last tried
has made X

I'm unable to create a new empty file on the desktop using the desktop
context menu in Edgy. I can create a new folder and a starter, but not
an empty file. It sais I don't have write permission, but I permissions
tab for my Desktop folder sais I do. And I cannot create files
I can reproduce this on current Edgy as well. I am not too sure this
isn't a dupe, but I tried looking for one and couldn't find any. Thanks

I have tried again today and at the second attempt it installed. However when I
tried to boot from the hard disc the boot failed. I got an error when GRUB was
trting to load. Error 18.
Its good to know that it was not a bug.

I can confirm that it works if you do any action to the existing
partition layout, or only a pseudo-action, like changing the usage of
a partition and then change it back. This makes ubuntu at least
installable, to the insiders ..

LVM partitioning does not work with edgy beta alternative
dmcclung, that bug report has no backtrace. What sort of screenshot were
you taking? Did you have any window with a weird title? The filename is
created from the window title when you do a window screenshot and we
already got bugs about such issues previously
