I had similar issues. I have tried to upgrade with adept by changing the
dapper repositories to edgy and after I got some errors (the ones that
failed because the commit would break packages). When trying to
boot I get instead of the splash screen a string saying something about
ACPI checking

First that instead of the kubuntu boot splash screen I get some messages which

No, the error actually is that ata_piix is used while ahci *should* be
used for it. If I use the ata_piix driver for it, it only detects 4 of
the 6 available ports and the speed is WAY slower. My own patched kernel
is running nice and smoothly here. I guess the ata_piix claiming to be
responsible
I can't reproduce it anymore. I would think beagle was in the repos a
little earlier than the updated mono. I had the same problem with
deskbar-applet and python. Mono was updated in about ten minutes, and
another dist-upgrade fixed it.

correction, to finish the gui on top of the already existing restoratoin

It would be nice if, when one put a laptop (or desktop, come to think of
it) into suspend-to-RAM, the kernel did all of the preparation for
suspend-to-disk as well. That way, if the batteries die before the
computer is reactivated, it'll just take a bit longer to restart
This has been fixed in the CVS version and the icon display policy is
controllable via a GConf entry.

The patch 09_browser.dpatch applied to the xchat source changes xchat to
use sensible-browser instead of gnome-open.
I'm guessing this is so its not dependant on gnome-open, which is
resonable. The problem is that sensible-browser prefers the system
default browser to the users preference.
The
mdz is fine with fixing that for edgy.

After renaiming a bookmarks topic, it is updated in bookmarks menu, but
is not recognized in the location bar. Only bookmarks assigned later to
the renamed topic appear in the location bar.
Example:
topic foo
Nothing changed yet since my update a few minutes ago.
