Just a little more info, I tried to type in most of the output when
booting without the "quiet" and "splash" options. It eventually dumps me
into a Busybox shell from the initramfs but I couldn't figure out how to
save any of the output.

Installing aspell-nl seems to fix this. Not only that, but installing
another language (with System -> Admin -> Language-support) now adds a
dictionary as well. This has either been fixed _or_ there is difference

looks of things - it's a transitional package to make sure your
networking keeps working during upgrades. You can install both

After suspend/hibernate the device file that points to the touchpad
(event*) changes its name (event1 -> event3 or something like it).
I had to add rules to "udev" that makes it create a link called
/dev/input/touchpad that points to the "right" device file.

I discovered that if I install ONLY the kdeveop and kdevelop-data
packages, then kdevelop installs properly (I get the menu items) and
seems to work OK.

At first pressing a char in konsole printed many many chars... then I switched
to CTRL-ALT-F1 then back to KDE and everything was smooth.

Server kernel is configured with PAE support (i.e. > 4GB support). Not
all CPU's support this (Mostly laptops that don't...)
Just about nobody needs it anyway, even on a "server", it makes things

Thanks for the info!
It appears to me however that, since not having eclipse-gcj installed slows
down eclipse to a level that it is barely usable, the package should not be
optional. I know that the running JVM is configurable but you have to look

Reinstalled nautilus-data and all seems well again.
Background:
I do not nor have I ever installed automatix, I only have pure Ubuntu (main,
restricted, *verse) packages installed on this machine.
Any ideas why upgrading nautilus-data didn't work but reinstalling did?

On my external computer monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 193T) I get only a
error message "video mode not supported" during startup and shutdown.
On the laptop monitor (Dell Latitude C840, Nvidia GForce4 440 Go)
everything works fine. The external monitor is connected with VGA.

No no, not at all, the ich8 bug is also fixed, so you should be able to boot
from one of the live-cd's.
Are you sure that ich8 is enabled in bios, and are you able to see it in any
other system?
