I think what people have been wanting (or at least me) is for the status
to be changed from 'Needs Info' to 'Confirmed' since there is evidence
that numerous users are experiencing this bug and so we know someone has
at least acknowledged it.

Martin, you may be right, I don't know. But at the moment Beagle _can_
index removable media - so it needs to be able to handle the media being
removed.
Should beagle listen to udev/nautilus (or whatever is appropriate) to
see when the user requests to eject media so it can respond suitably?

thin client IBM pc 300gl with pxe boot
I checked the export settings when starting programs from the menu and
I'm seeing:
export ESPEAKER='192.168.0.150:16001'
so that looks good.
The only sound that works on the client are:
-the test tones in sound preferences
sorry but how to load the snd-atiixp driver manually
I tried sudo modprobe snd-atiixp but that only results in
FATAL: Module snd_atiixp not found. and I can't finde where to get that module

Is there a way to get this backported into edgy? Since edgy is a
production release and the usb install is a documented feature I
expect that many people will be beating their heads on walls trying to
make this work.

Allow me to strongly doubt that. The reasons for that are:
1. The system was flawed since it was in a relatively virgin state,
meaning that I encountered the problem in a relatively fresh
installation the very first time i tried to add programs to the start up
list.
2. Others have encountered
