Seems rather strange here as well. I migrated a few user homes to a newly set
up Edgy server running the 2.6.17-10 generic kernel. The first two users were
quite happy, the third had the Permission Denied error, then I switched back to
the Dapper kernel. All three users use KDE and nfs mounted
It was Virtual PC 2004 that I was using. I don't know if it is still an
issue because I have switched to using Parallels on my Mac and it works
just fine. I seem to remember being able to work around this by turning
the framebuffer off, but it's been a while.

I just installed Azureus and it keeps crashing with the Sun Jre (even if it
does work with GCJ).

This issue also exists with nautilus-cd-burner 2.16.1 on Fedora Core 6
as well. I tested burning CDs and/or DVDs with cdrecord, K3B, and
Gnomebaker, all of which burn the media without issue.

Michael: `/var/lib/update-manager/meta-release` does not exist on my
system. The update-manager folder is there, but it is empty.

I installed the debug symbols as requested, and ran the program as
described on the web page (through gdb). FireFox did crash (always nice
when the crash recurs during debugging...).

In any way I do not see what libgphoto2 has to do with it. If you talk
about usb-storage cameras, then you can of course copy files with 'cp
-a'.
libgphoto2 only talks to the camers, thus the bug should be moved to
gthumb/f-spot/whatever photo app you use for not preserving the file

I can't now, and I don't know why: it just gives a warning, and I can
use sudo -k; anyway I can assure that it happened :) On the other hand,
kko's original report seems to suggest the same behavior that I observed
originally and not just the warning that I am getting now by following
his steps.

on a hp pavilion dv904ea.
it seems that there is a irq problem. in /var/log/kern.log is a line
spurious 8259A interrupt: irq 7. after a while of using the desktop
irq 7 is disabled (the usb2 port). i have to manually remove ehci_hcd to
get usb working again (at 1.1 speed).
