Well in my case it happened when I was in Firefox and opening another

But I just (inadvertantly) reproduced the problem...
So now you know.
I didn't explain it before because I didnt see the connection between

Come to think of it, I still don't..

I get exactly the same problem on Edgy fresh install trying to add a
Lexmark Postscript printer on a remote LPD.
I added the printer as local, and that worked fine. I went back to the
printer properties and changed the connection to network LPD and entered
the IP address and queue name. Saved

Please give the version numbers of Beryl and Ubuntu you used and the

Hi,
While I do realize that most terminal emulators do not give you a login
shell by default, setting my terminal emulators to give me a login shell

shell I was given (presumably a login shell, I had _just_ logged in) did

Confirmed here as well. Running 'XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 nedit' works

I'm not sure if this is a bug at all, and / or if it's a bug with gdm or
apt-get...
it happens:

Confirmed on a Thinkpad Z61m with a mobility radeon X1400. When
switching to a VT the screen goes psychedelic ;)
IMHO the priority of this bug should be raised, as a VT is something
really important, if X doesn't work.

Please raise this to critical and schedule into Feisty.
It's critical because it's part of the post-installation user experience

So the way to fix the problems with an upcoming technology is to supress
it? Thats silly.. Disabling it by default out of the box also does not
aid adoption.
As far as I can see, this is a limited issue to those with broken
routers, probably 98% of devices on the market have no problems with
Tonights updates to 5.2.0-8 resolved the issue locally. All is well in
denmark. Close if confirmed.
