I was unable to reproduce this myself so if you figure out what the
other circumstances are please include them. If you could also install
firefox-dbg and obtain a crash report that would be useful too.

When I start a chat with myself (don't have any real friends..) the
inputbox is still always resized to at least 3 lines of text. I don't
have a buddy icon set so i don't think that's it, those 3 lines are
hardcoded into gnome/gaim/something I think.
