It certainly looks like a bug, but it's claiming to be a hardware error,
so I'm not certain that this isn't actually a problem with e1000
firmware, or BIOS.

Still having the same problem in ubuntu 7.04-feisty, gnome 2.17.91
If you look at /etc/exports and /etc/samba/smb.conf you see that it is
sharing the folders properly, but changing the share requires manual
intervention.
