Alternate and updated with update-manager.
Feisty Herd 5 shipped with openoffice.org-2.2.0-rc3 and subsequent

FWIW, this does not work for me. I haven't been able to boot to my SATA
drive since kernel -11. I have a asram 939dualsata2 (I think) with one
of those problematic SATA chipsets. My machine doesn't even show the
/dev/sd* devices on these newer kernels.

You can try to do a few of things through ssh and get a diagnostic.
>From X, try: "echo mem | sudo tee /sys/power/state". This command makes
the computer to suspend without any "trick". If the system doesn't
resume, reboot and do a normal suspend.
After resume you can get a copy of "/var/log/Xorg

Well, I don' t know if I feel embarrassed or relieved but I found out I
had a corrupt file at /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc .
I had been playing with other keymap / layouts and somehow overwrote
that one. I found out by comparing the files with a fresh Feisty
install.

I experience no problems with the latest linux-image-2.6.20-14-generic

I had the install process stall at the same point when installing on an
Emachine desktop running XP. I no longer have access to the machine, so
I won't be able to provide additional debugging information. I've
attached a copy of the /var/log/messages file that I had saved after the
install process
