After one of the latest udates, I had the same problem and found out that
during the boot process my PC hangs at networking.
My workaround was excluding some commands of /etc/network/interfaces.

in Dec I had no issues hooking up my camera to transfer picuters, but

I can confirm Nablas problem. Have exactly the same problem on both notebooks
(IBX X31 and Fujits/Siemens P7010) both Centrino after upgrade.
