i'm having the same problem. i just need to start my pc, log in, and then close
the session. the screen will go blank, and ctrl-alt-del or anything like that
won't work. I have to restart the pc to be able to log in again.
But I'm using a Radeon XPress 1100 with the proprietary driver.

The patch, as it stands, doesn't work for me as my Quickcam Messenger
has idProduct = 0x08f6. Obviously I can edit the patch to meet my
requirements, but can we have a patch that will catch both id's? I don't
know if any other idProduct codes exist for the camera also...?

I'm a sucker for punishment so I looked around for a document that gave
me every possible command line parameter that I could pass to the Kernel
(Why is it that the 2.6.20 kernel is still saying to pass pci parameter
over the command line when I read that those don't work any more with
Kernel 2+

My box did boot fine showing that mdadm message though. The trouble
began as I installed the server kernel and initrd images got
regenerated. The box became unbootable. The proposed fix worked out,

read the system theme - I believe there's a Summer of Code project to
this very effect.

module doesn't get loaded and my calendar won't get displayed.

I have since gone back to 6.06, but I can get all the output for you
from the live cd (which also doesnt shutdown)..

i've got the same problem. It seems that /usr/lib/kde4/bin/klauncher is linked
against at least one kde-3.5 library.
A ldd shows this:
$ ldd /usr/lib/kde4/bin/klauncher
libkdeinit_klauncher.so = /usr/lib64/libkdeinit_klauncher.so
(0x2afa89eba000)

This seems to be fixed in Gnome but unfortunately not in KDE
(respectively kubuntu).
I don't know if it helps, but this is my xev output for this key:

I've got exactly the same problem with a TSSTcorpCD/DVDW SN-S082D using Gentoo
(hal-version 0.5.7.1-r3, linux-2.6.20.4 and linux-2.6.21.1)...
Although there don't seem to be too many users with such a Samsung-drive, the
