Yeah I figured that it had something to do with that. I knew it was a
monitor issue and not vid card or gdm/X wouldn't have even started. I

I am still testing and I think, I've catched the bad boy - it's
GStreamer!

I did sudo apt-get remove nvidia-glx-legacy
Then I installed restricted manager and I used it to enable NVIDIA propr driver.
I rebooted. I got empty screen so I shut down kdm via /etc/init.d/kdm stop.

I think I have narrowed this down. It isn't actually a heimdal problem,
it is a libldap problem. In libldap2 (used by slapd), the ldapi socket
is defined as /var/run/slapd/ldapi , but in lipldap, used by heimdal ,
it is defined as /var/run/ldapi . The mismatch in the defaults is
causing the two
The changes which resolved this issue for me were to software not
packaged in Ubuntu. I don't think there is an issue here to be fixed in
Ubuntu.

consists of putting the binary and config files into the correct system
wide locations. When installing programs from source you are able to
pass your home dir in via the ./configure command which then allows you
to install

I've had this issue as well for a while. I've been overriding gnome-
control-center with 'xset m default'.
Mouse speed is normal at gdm. When I log in, it immediately goes to a

Here's the proof, although I had the package names a little off... it is
a difference between libldap-2.3-0 and libldap2
