Hello. I've just looked closer at this, I see a pattern now and I think

This problem is reproducible. On my HP Pavilion 750c Desktop it happens on
every boot with the 2.6.20-16-386 kernel.
Simply dropping back to the 2.6.17 kernel allows the system to boot.

Weird thing: it started working again. I think I added the ZAxisMapping
setting to my xorg.conf, but then after I rebooted it still didn't work.
But then it worked again on the next day. I'd say: regard this as a

OK, it seems I'm not done yet. After a reboot I don't get the warning in
the console anymore. The core-util errors are gone, too. However I still

installed.
The crash seems that was caused by adobe's flash plugin which we can do
anything about it, since it is closed source. You might want to report
it upstream directly.
However notice that you are not using ubuntu's packaged
... if you try to reproduce the crash, please do it in safe-mode,
e.g. from a terminal type: firefox -safe-mode
