This change changes Deskbar from mature and usable application to rough
developer preview from user's point of view. In my opinion, Ubuntu
should stick with older, more polished, versions of software, if new
versions break UI (the same case is file roller's bug #13199).

Thanks for your bug report.
This issue is fixed in the 8.0.4-1 debian package, which unfortunately didn't
make it into gutsy. It should get automatically synced from unstable during
gutsy+1 cycle though.

Because its not a default substvars and its not defined in debian/rules (as a

No, I'm going to test the machine in October.
I have not had this oops afterwards, although my machine hangs every now and
then.
Let's mark this bug closed for the time being, and I'll post some more comments

is dbus session bus running?
try running dbus-launch and then run trackerd
if that solves the problem then your dbus session is not being started
on X login (which is either a bug in dbus config or you have manually
altered something)

I don't know what fixed it, but with an up-to-date gutsy the LED is now
blinking when my laptop is going to sleep.
