The fact that I can't access keyboard when X gets a black screen is probably
related to a bug in XKB package.
All the time starts Gnome and a window show-up with a message that keyboard

I'll try the downgrade if I can find the old deb (doesn't show in
synaptic), but I notice from the changelog that the only change from
ubuntu6->ubuntu7 was to drop a patch related to determining resolution
on intel hardware. Looks like that change fixes some people's issues

Oops, sorry. In the first message, i meant to say it is broken on gutsy.
Subsequently, it was broken in feisty in 2.6.20-16.31.

I'm seeing the same thing happening. Attached the requested files.
After closing scim gnome-panel and wallpaper-tray crashed (maybe
others?) but firefox seems to have stayed put.

For upgrading to tracker 0.6.3, go to system>administration>update
manager.
Do 'dpkg -l | grep tracker' and paste here the output, so we know what

The same setup (ipod 4g plugged through firewire) was working fine when
I was using feisty, and it never worked since I upgraded to gutsy (2
weeks ago iirc)
