issue, my temporary work-around was to mv /usr/bin/update-menus /usr/bin
/update-menus.old

Same happens in Gutsy with a Radeon 9600 card and LCD monitor Syncmaster 912N.
Stellarium has a default configuration for low resolution (1024x768) and high
bpp (32 instead of 24 as normally used by majority of monitors).
Probably that's the possible cause of segfault in Gutsy.
