My hunch was right. I manually updated my /etc/apt/sources.list to point to the Gutsy files and then did a forced update of just the gutsy libc6 2.6.1. It let me do that. Once that was in place, I was able to use update-manager to update everything. -- update-manager fails to install gutsy
