I also can confirm this in gutsy. I downgraded qemu to the feisty
version because of a qemu bug. Afterr downgrading qemu, I did aptitude
forbid-version qemu=0.9.0-2ubuntu4 to prevent it from upgrading. This
works for aptitude in a terminal .. it successfully skips it. Also,
adept manager skips

I can confirm the excessive logging on a Samsung X20 running Feisty.
On battery power a battery event gets logged to /var/log/acpid every 30-40s.
Disabling the logging with -l /dev/null in /etc/default/acpid gets rid of that.
Please note that for every battery event also /etc/acpi/power.sh is

Same for me. On my Samsung X20 suspend to RAM was broken anyhow, but I
was able to fix it by compiling a custom kernel. All solutions mentioned
above didn't work for me. I just prevent the nm-applet to run and
everything is O.K. I just select my network configuration manually.

I think that there should be an option to not have them hide when
clicking on the desktop. I have never liked this behavior. I'm using
Gutsy and they do hide when clicking on the desktop. Someone on the
Ubuntu forums said enabling desktop effects reverts it back to its
hiding on desktop click, you
