I confirm this bug and I opened an upstream bug for it.
However there is an easy workaround, just use the menu Edition -> Add files or

I just installed a new asus lightscribe dvd burner and put my old dvd
drive as the slave, and now all works as it should.
Strange thing is that the cd drive that was causing this problem is
still plugged in and is working, i think its because its now as a slave

i wanted watch an chapter of Bleach. VLC started normal, the sound came, but
the video output laged. It "jumped" like this:
Normal Video: frame1; frame2; frame3; frame4; . frameX;
What VLC does: frame1; frame3; frame2; frame4; .. frameXXX
Is this supposed to be working in Gutsy? Adding a cryptsetup volume to
/dev/mapper doesn't make it automount and neither do I find the above
mentioned line in 20-names.rules.

I have the same issue than Severn Clay. When I'm using my Broadcom 4306
eventually my keyboard locks up but I can still use my computer with the
mouse. The only thing that work in the keyboard are the Ctrl + Alt +
SysRq combinations which are needed because, when I try to restart with
the keyboard
