10.3. But it appears with Mandriva 2008.

with ubuntu Gutsy alternate CD, the boot sequence start with a message

In that case, there must be something else wrong as well.
The kdesudo ubuntu2.2 did not work for me, programs could not connect to
the X server. If I recall correctly, issueing an xhost + would resolve
that.
Removing kdesudo and using kdesu instead worked for me.

I've got the same problem. I'm using Gutsy (final) on a HP 6720s laptop
(intel X3100). Compiz is disabled by default and cannot be enabled
(without removing the blacklist check). My machine doesn't play videos
at all. It doesent matter whether i try using Mplayer, Totem or VLC.

I can confirm this, it does work when you keep your keys in kwallet but
then it asks for your password after logging in.
Here is part of my daemon.log containing an error that it cannot find
the key (see the WARN), even though it's saved in knetworkmanager's
config file, after manually selecting

The symptoms described in this bug might have multiple causes. I just
noticed that I can lock up my xorg quite repetably by executing a little
GL test program remotely, either tunneled over ssh or not. The mouse
pointer is responsive, but the system does not respont to keyboard and
mouse clicks.

It should work without the hdparm -B 254 workaround. If it doesn't then
you have some other program running that is also accessing the disk
(suggestions have been thunderbird amongst other things). This is one
of those annoying bugs where you have to squash all of them before the
