Ok, we know that pommed works. addon-macbook-backlight in hal doesn't work.
Thats strange, because pommed code and hal code are basically the same for
adjusting the Macbook brightness.

With the help of Mart Raudsepp from Gentoo, we have backported the
libDDC patch to AMD 2.7.7.7 and called the result 2.7.7.8-0ubuntu1.
This one gets correctly detected inside LTSP too.

The current version in Debian is 1.9-1, so we could sync that.
I'll try and rebuild and test that version in hardy tomorrow.
Note that I haven't experienced problems with the current version,
so if someone that does have problems could also do that
it would be much better.

I think I should clarify something. When you initially go to share a
folder a prompt comes up to install SAMBA. This is probably sufficient
for most people, as most are operating in a *nix/Windows environment.
In Gutsy you could choose SMB or NFS. In Hardy you are only given the

not sure which cups upgrade broke (gutsy or hardy)
but the old permissions problem crept back in w/ a cups update to one or the

with the restricted driver i get a splash screen when ubuntu starts but
not when it is shutting down. and it doesnt matter if i use uspash or

machine. I'm using a Gateway Solo 5300 with 512 MB of RAM (the maximum
it supports). At one point in time, when this laptop was brand new from

Upgrading to Hardy destroyed my network shares and when I try to recreate them
I can also confirm this bug. Sharing NTFS simply does not work out-of-
the-box on Hardy due to the permissions errors.
Using "gksudo nautilus" worked for me, as well as adding "uid=1000" to
the options column in /etc/fstab. However these really are just work
arounds, and neither method is ideal.

Here's what happens:
I push lid button and nothing happens.
When I release the button screen switches off and KDE locks the screen.
So screen reacts to reopening lid instead of closing. I'm not sure which
package is responsible for that.
