I too can confirm this problem. I'm running a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H
motherboard (780G chipset) with the built-in graphics adapter in dual-
head mode and have all the problems described above. If I walk away
from my computer longer than ten minutes or so, the screen will

I can restart Gnome with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, but Ctr-Alt-Delete doesn't

2.6.19 series, with a xen kernel even.
Now I'm on hardy server, tried both 386 and amd64 version.

Reporting that for Asus x55sv laptop the solution was to add the line
options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo-101e
to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

Additional info.
While trying to get GDM to display properly I went into xorg.conf and removed
all video modes below 1024x768 this had no effect on the login but certain
games gave that "Cannot display video mode" message again. I typed [EMAIL
PROTECTED] back into xorg.conf and the games worked

I commented above that I get no sound with Kubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 from
