I have the same problem, and the reason (in my case) is not the usefree
option, since I don't have. My installation was a Feisty, upgraded to
Gutsy and now Hardy. The automount stopped working after upgrading to
Hardy.
However, I noticed, that if I disable networking via the nm-applet,
some usb cards NEED asoundrc, otherwise ALSA has no clue how to deal with it.
my alesis io|2 worked just with asound configured under ubuntu gutsy but under
hardy it goes without.

It seems that swfdec does not yet have fullscreen support--see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=476867
I cannot find anything about fullscreen support in libflash. But looking
at the source package (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libflash/),
it has not changed since at least

accurate, the GNOME in hardy is not buggier than previous versions,
there is some known pulseaudio (which is not a GNOME component) and gvfs
samba issues but not a lot of crashers and no performances issues. those

the description has not enough details to determine exactly what bug
number to use and the desktop team prefer to invest effort on debugging
those issues rather than figuring exact bug numbers to close duplicates

I don't think the directory should be changed.
I think nautilus should call the JVM using the current directory,
but it seems to be calling it using my home (/home/my-user).
When I launch java in the terminal, the JVM thinks the current
directory is the current directory.

I tried upgrading to the new driver. One happy moment was that I now get
textured video (so they I move totem the video surface now moves with
it), that's just awesome. One not so good thing though is that this new
driver consumes HUGE amounts of CPU. When I play a 320x240 pixel .OGG
