Okay. When you reboot an ubuntu machine it (often) will moves the output
of an important log file that was generated during the last session to a
new file. So for example:/var/log/Xorg.0.log might become
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old . You might have to boot into recovery mode to
get a hold of the file.

I am seeing this error message very often too, when using sudo. It seems to be
caused by
the missingok parameter on the pam_smbpass line in /etc/pam.d/common-auth,
which
prevents excessive error logging when pam_smbpass isn't installed, but in turn
causes
the module to complain about this

I've just updated to hardy and much to my surprise the wifi doesn't work
using the restricted drivers, it did in gutsy. I tried some things I
found on the internet w/o success, I'm confused as which driver I need
to use and how to go about it. Using, 8.04
