In summary, this is apparently caused by compiling openmpi with
-Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions (default from latest dpkg-buildpackage).
This could possibly be due to any of the three

built-in trackpoint mouse. I haven't done extensive testing on this
however that's my impression.
